2018 megillah
How things move on. Completely opposite to the low-res scans of physical images that my first megillah was recorded on my website back in 2002, the megillah I write in 2018 was properly documented and recorded step by step in detail in a number of facebook albums and the links are below.
This megillah was part of an ongoing project to look at, understand, explain and indeed create new visual midrashim for the megillah and embed these in a new tiqqun. Given my PhD studies this may be some time away yet, but various parts of this are being published in separate articles.
I hadn’t had a commission, but an old friend Yisroel Shalom ben Avraham had donated some k'laf to me. though I am not sure why he had bought the parchment. He had perhaps intended to learn to be a scribe, since this absence of God’s Name allows megillat Esther to be a training work. For we can practice without fear of damaging God’s Holy Name or writing it without the proper intention - until one is more proficient. However, he had then decided this wasn’t for him and gifted me the parchment. Sadly my friend passed away very suddenly and after the funeral I decided to write the megillah partly as a remembrance to him and partly to add in the various visual midrash devices I had been considering for more than a decade.
